you see, there is the problem. (k) there were two birds in the tree. you were busy seducing the cardinal into eating out of your hand. so busy and so seductive. but there were two birds in that tree. (m) two. the second was a lone eagle sitting very high. weary and injured from the long and turbulent journey from the south pole. the eagle is not ignoring you. just trying to rest and heal. (n) in any case, the cardinal doesn't really exist.
